This Carrara marble work is based on an original marble carved by Argojean for the Bâtiments du Roi, in the Louvre's collection. Half-naked, Venus leans forward naturally with a garland on her head, her left foot bent on the rock, her right foot dipped in water, and her dress is about to slip off with one hand.
